You Suck at Photoshop chronicles Donnie Hoyle’s crumbling life and descent into (hilarious) depression through tutorials on manipulating photographs. Not only will you laugh as Donnie describes what he’d like to do to the van his wife is having an affair in, you’ll learn real techniques for removing cats from pictures (it won Webbys for best comedy and best how-to site).
The beauty of You Suck is that it’s told entirely through how-tos. You never see Donnie or his wife; Donnie’s tricks for manipulating photographs tell the story. And even though you follow Donnie as his love life, work life and guild life get worse and worse, he maintains his arrogant demeanor, hence the “you sucking” at Photoshop.
At one point, the joke was even extended into the real world, with Donnie putting his wedding ring (the ring of infinite sorrow) up for sale on eBay with a real-world listing.
The series was created by Troy Hitch and Matt Bledsoe (a.k.a. Big Fat Brain), two former ad agency guys from Kentucky. The 10 episodes of You Suck (plus bonus tribute) live at My Damn Channel along with the not-as-funny-but-still-funny spinoff, Sn4tchbuckl3r’s Second Chance.
