How does a “web video industry following blog” interview one of the founders of the industry, and not have video? Even spliced video from Skype would be okay!

Andrew Baron, June 10, 2008 at 11:25 PM

“NewTeeVee: What do you feel those networks are doing wrong?”

#1 – The top reason will always be the content; not taking the extra time to make a show as good as possible (e.g. saying that “Everything is good enough” instead of “It’s as good as we can possibly do”).

#2 – Notice that to the benefit of content creators like Epic-Fu and WLT for instance, they are on all of these new networks while maintaining freedom and identity across all of them, and consequently, devaluing the networks to a common stock, similar to the platform problem Metacafe, Dailymotion and Revver might be having (e.g. who can give more distribution and who has the revenue are the only questions at this point). Traditional networks have always depended on exclusivity, and that loss of exclusivity is what I have always claimed would contribute to their demise, looking a lot like the situation I think these new networks are in.

Excellent interview!
It feels like everyone is still feeling out the space. I can’t wait to see how things change when more and more people turn to internet video and away from TV- will “internet networks” become as ruthlessly competitive as traditional “TV networks?”

Tim, June 18, 2008 at 12:15 PM

The episode you have up it episode two. It just went up today. I like the series though. The humor is subtle and professional which you so rarely see online. I think the series has a ton of potential and i can’t wait for more. Do you think you could post episode 1 as well as episode 2?

Thanks!

Liz Shannon Miller, June 18, 2008 at 12:25 PM

Thanks for catching that, Tim (we were using the series embed code, not the episode-specific embed code). I do agree that the professionalism is impressive — I’d just like to see a more engaging approach to story and characters. Subtle humor is fine for a one-off short, but for an ongoing series I need a little more to keep me interested.

I actually made two bowls of popcorn after finishing this piece. I left the magnetron inside the microwave, though. Which I’m sure is why it lacked delicious.

Well, the distinct flavor comes from the magnetron melting your taste buds ever so slightly.

Sam Dilton, July 4, 2008 at 12:00 AM

I think the whole initiative is just wonderful. The perspectives that are being provided are great. Having seen a couple of episodes, I’d say that the idea has got quite a lot going in its favor. As far as the production value is considered, I ‘d like to believe that with time and experience it would improve. But for a show that is put together by wiling contributors, it is still quite a good debut.

A little more attention to the in-house efforts and a bit more professionalism in anchors could go a long way.

Soulja Boy new album, July 6, 2008 at 7:53 AM

Soulja boy is a new level of hip hop. We need to have something for the new generation to relate to because we didn’t grow up when Ice-t did. No disrespect to Ice-t or anything. I mean Soulja boy maybe a no Nas but he is new school. I think all this beef needs to stop between rappers. Can’t they just make money and do positive stuff for their co-rappers?

Awesome review-this makes me even more excited to see this next week! And I disagree with b!x in that I don’t think you revealed overly much about the plot. For the most part, it can be surmised through the trailer, the descriptions Whedon has given, and the online Dark Horse/Myspace comic written by Zack Whedon.

Extremely well thought out. Thanks so much for writing it!

J. Earley, July 11, 2008 at 11:04 AM

Joss should invest a few million dollars of his own money to do a “Doctor Horrible” animated musical film for major release in theatres. I think it could be his chance to really cash in on this concept and make a mint. I view this as the Incredibles go musical, in a way…but since it is mainly about the villain…this film is in many ways what the Wanted comic book is to Watchmen, the other side of the story, from the bad guy’s perspective.

The potential is there for this to be a smash as an animated film. Why not go for it??? All you will need is 80 to 90 minutes of footage…and to be cost effective, if need be…book end the film so it starts as live action…and then moves into animation for the main part of the story, and ends in live action just the way it started–a reverse play, or inverted play, on Disney’s film Enchanted. Using the already filmed live action footage of Doctor Horrible. or even new live acton footage, shot on the cheap, ala its prototype, this could really be something big!!! I mean, at a time of huge and expensively over budgeted animated films, whoever heard of doing a low budget cost effective animated film…at least these days??? Go for it Joss, believe me, it will work!!! Have faith…oh, that’s right(???)…you created Faith…5 x 5!!! See Joss, we should be working together, I have a million of these ideas!!!

Aha, Mr. Earley; so we meet again! This Joss stalking of yours grows tiresome. That goody Whedon may not like to get his hands dirty dealing with the rabble; but be assured, my Horrible henchmen will find you. It’s no use donning your aluminum brain shield. We’ve got you on our monitors now. You’ll soon be back in your guest quarters, with the nice soft walls.

I love Felicia Day and Joss Whedon.

With all the buzz of the 3G iPhone today I wish I could go wait in line somewhere to watch the premier of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog .

Hey Felicia, can I pitch a tent outside your apartment?

J. Earley, July 11, 2008 at 6:09 PM

Hello Dr. Horrible!!! You may kiddingly criticize me, and I give you credit for you creativity, as it is amusing, but you have to admit…I have a good plan. Let me breakdown the particulars for you:

Joss has said that he budgeted his blog movie at a price in the low 6 figures…enough to generate not only enough footage for the 3 part blog, but a DVD release. My plan is simple, all Joss need film, is 20 minutes of live action footage for a full feature theatrical version of the musical…and just 60 to 70 minutes worth of animation to complete the project in whole. The latter of which can be produced for several million dollars…which Joss can easily finance himself, for a combined running time of 80 to 90 minutes. A perfect running time for family audiences and smart minded studio execs.

Joss has already shown his cost effectness by using library stock footage for aerial clips in the production…and filming live action bookend wrap-arounds for a theatrical adaptation of said film, or using the footage which has already been shot for the Sing-Along Blog, is also an option.

Distribution through a independent film studio or via Joss’ new home at MGM could prove a major success. My plan is solid, the budget low…thus it seems like the perfect situation to expand this property’s great potential on. This is a “Gem” of an idea, an animated super hero/comedy/musical with romance(???)…sounds like a hit to me…and stalkers don’t propose good ideas–well thought-out muses do.

Im tired of hearing “Ice T attacked a 17-year old kid and told him to eat a dick”. This Soulja Boy dude says, “Superman that hoe” in a song…how is that Mother Goose kid shit? He cashin grown people checks doin grown man shit but cant get checked by another grown man?

Did it matter that LeBron James hit the NBA at 18 yers old? Did vets that play the game like Robert Horry or Garnett foul him like a kid or a grown man?

Soulja Boy is a professional rap artist…that makes him PEERS with Ice T as far as his rap career is concerned. Why does it matter that he is 17 years old? He could go to Iraq and kill people…half our military is “kids” but nobody cryin about that shit…they like, “Why’d Ice tell him to Eat A Dick?”
I’ll tell you why… cuz THIS IS HIP HOP and we are our own harshest critics. “Eat a dick” is the hiphop equivalent to the british sayin “Bugger off”. He didnt attack Soulja Boy personally…he said his music was wack…SO WHAT!!

And, to be honest, SOulja Boy shit is not hip hop – it’s House music, damn near Techno. They repeat the same shit 30 times…thats traditional chicago bassment house music…that shit is NOT hip hop.

But we keep lettin corporations tell us what OUR shit is and categorize OUR shit. Soulja Boy did not kill hip hop, the corporate grip on the game told us that was hip hop and we believed it…that shit is House music.

Hip Hop cant die cuz it aint never been alive.

Dave, July 20, 2008 at 1:12 PM

NOBODY can disrespect ICE-T,

He was putting out platinum hits when i was in 5th grade and truly one of the west coast’s greatest legends.

The above posting is right on the money, Soulja Boy isn’t even Hip Hop while Ice-T is Hip Hop in it’s truest form.

Some of y’all _ _ _ _ _ _ _ is Bitches too…..1991 motherfuckers….also, it should not have been Common and Russel Simmons speaking to Oprah….if Ice -T was present on that show Oprah would be be eating shit about the whole “misogyny” brand to hip hop , after all , Ice said it best , not all women are bitches ….just the bitches (men included)!!!

Point being that Ice T was addressing real social issues about Hip Hop before the masses could even weigh in on their value, this man is a hip hop ambassador whom the media a tired of dealing with as a result of his intelligence.

It’s not that Ice-T is irrelevant , it’s that he is so straight up he doesn’t bother saying the same things he was saying 20 years ago.

This man is also a true artist who despite the public and media, crossed over from hip hop to Metal on the basis of his own musical ambitions, not because his record label told him it was the flavor of the month.

Soulja boy should shut the fuck up and ‘recognize game’ when you see it (Return of the Real 1997 , double platinum and this tycoon retired on it, better that can be said about most rappers out there!~)

That’s an interesting take. but I’m more for facts, so let’s look at those.
2 months after “Girlfriend” video was put on youtube it had 50,000 comments and 25million views. after that “girlfriend had a steady stream of about 1 million views a week (and it still does). on June 19th 2008 when Avrilbandaids posted the so called refresher page “Girlfriend had 88.0 Million views, That night the counter on the Avrilbandaids page recorded 1.3 million views , however the views on the video only went up by the standard 150,000 for the day, which is always the case for that video. shortly after that Youtube disabled the ability to view the video from a frame within a page. so now 1 month later it finally passed EOD, which if you look at the history of gains for “Girlfriend” over “EOD” you will notice that that works out perfectly, as Girlfriend usually gets about 20k to 30k more views per day, (all of this information is available on TubeMogul). now 5 days after it overtook EOD it has 100k more views which again is exactly on track. “Girlfreind” has always been getting closer and closer to overtaking the top spot on youTube, and it finally did .

The fact is that “girlfriend” was in second place for a year, and it was always getting more views per day, so it was just a matter of time before it overtook EOD. The most interesting fact is that the Girlfriend video cannot be embedded like EOD, so all of those views came from people watching it on Youtube, Unlike EOD which is placed all over the web.

I think that I am with you ‘XSIVE’ on this, I am all about the facts about this situation too, and the facts that I looked in to have lead me to the same conclusion as yours. Also the fact the Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend video was the most (legally bought) and downloaded song in 2007 lends even more credibility to the fact that Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend video was indeed a very popular video. Even more evidence to support the popularity of Avril Lavigne is the fact that Avril Lavigne was the best selling female artist in the world in 2007, according to WorldwideAlbums.net/2007ye.htm – And finally, the fact that Avril Lavigne now has the most NO. 1 Top 40 Hits This Decade, according to Billboard magazine, the Billboard article said that Avril Lavigne has ascended to a lofty pedestal: The 22-year-old now has the most No. 1 top 40 hits this decade at “five” and is the No. 2 artist in the 14-year history of Nielsen BDS, behind Mariah Carey’s six chart-toppers. —Chuck Taylor billboard.com/bbcom/content_display/reviews/singles/e3i6337374c02990aa382432d13494ab554 -It seems to me that with the kind of popularity of Avril Lavigne holds, it could have pushed her Girlfriend video to the most viewed video on YouTube quite easily.

I just stumbled across this. Great interview! Short, to the point, and excellent questions!

The “network” conundrum I think is one of the biggest questions for this new industry. How do you grow beyond one hit show, expand out, and create some scale, without fragmenting everything into separate silos. Or worse, end up creating clones of your hit show that aren’t creatively different.

One thing I’m curious about. I wonder what Drew thinks of what Leo Laporte is doing with TWiT Live?

Uh-oh. Turns out, the McCain gang didn’t license “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” and Warner Music had the video pulled from YouTube. According to this, it’s just the latest in a string of music-related setbacks. On the other hand, McCain does have the support of Burt Bacharach (whom Newsweek snarkily calls out as an octagenarian, as if Frankie Vallie was so young and hip to start with). There’s gotta be something in the Bacarach catalog that would go well with “Obama Love!”

qefan, July 30, 2008 at 7:45 AM

I love this article. It’s much better written than the Wall Street Journal article.
Fated to love you is a hit not just in Taiwan but all over the world.
It’s not just youtube that has Fated to Love You as one of the most viewed shows. And the no of people subbing this drama is amazing. We can see 4-5 versions of different subbing out in a few days time.

I think Qiao En’s acting, like this article mentioned, is a huge plus point to the drama. She really drew me into the drama, something I don’t really find other Taiwan idol drama actor or actresses are able to do. Her crying scenes are really influencing and draws people to cry along with her. We feel her emotions, not know base on the drama plot that the emotion is suppose to be there. Her tone and expression is always on the dot and not too exaggerated or emotionless.
I believe if the European and Americans are exposed to Fated to Love You more, even with a language barrier, they will be attracted and addicted to the drama. The drama has such a power on people.

breakingdawnlover1031, August 4, 2008 at 2:06 AM

I think it’s obvious that a big factor in people watching the show is because of Qiao En. Starred in like 5 or 6 different dramas, and two of her shows are part of the top three. Fated to love you at first and Prince Turns to Frog at I believe 3. Meteor Garden starring Barbie Xu and F4 is either 2 or 3.

As to Wall Street Journal’s comment about people saying Ming Dao would’ve been better as Ji Cun Xi. I don’t agree. I think that Ethan Ruan is perfect for the role of Cun Xi. But I think after seeing so much Ming Dao and Qiao En, people might say Ming Dao was better for Cun Xi only because he fits better with Qiao En. I think Ethan is perfect, he can be serious, funny, a true boss, and a bit pathetic at times. Ming Dao may be better with Qiao En, but Ethan makes the absolute best Cun Xi. ^_^

Rob, August 4, 2008 at 6:47 AM

I happen to like this video and really like the song. I never felt it was trying to sway me either way politically. Just people voicing what they believe in. I think if it were more refined or focused in its message you would lose the good feeling that comes from seemingly regular people getting a chance to share their beliefs.

Rory, August 4, 2008 at 7:18 AM

I think just the people with signs is really cool. Doesn’t feel pushy or corporate. Reminded me more of those “Free Hugs” videos.

“Jill: Perhaps this video is like a little red, white, and blue balloon, released hopefully into the sky with no knowledge of where it’ll land and whose life it’ll brighten.”
Jill, I agree with this quote. I love this band and I used one of their less country songs in some of my very pro-Obama videos. I used them without permission but I think this band is trying to make great music and not necessarily a political statement. I think they’re letting that up to their listeners…

So now, when, as Obama thinks, he doesn’t need more delegates to be a nominee, he says that the MI & FL delegations should be seated in full and with full voting rights. So he acknowledges that the popular vote is clearly on Hillary’s side – better later than never.

It’s easy to tell now why is this rush – the polls show clearly that Florida is leaning towards McCain more and more, and Michigan is again a on a table. And in this heat I believe Clinton should use the situation without much hesitation and urge for a roll call during the convention. Let’s see who will get more delegates at the finish.

If soulja boys didnt dance in any of his videos and just stuck with rapping do you think he would be as popular as he is now. Sure ppl will argue saying that his dancing is part of his songs as an entertainer but seriously look at his songs, example the song donk i just saw the music video for it recently, what the fuck is that. Redbud9, August 15, 2008 at 11:37 AM

I don’t care one bit about Jennifer Aniston. They were a bad pairing to begin with, but she’s flat out stupid if she thought serial dater and dumper John Mayer could be tamed by her boring personality. Everyone knows he can’t keep it in his pants – did she think she had magical powers? He just wanted another hottie he can add to his incredible list of sexual partners. We all knew that….only she didn’t. It seems her little dog was the ONLY one in her crowd who knew this was a bad deal. Word is her dog didn’t like Mayer. Anyway….don’t care about who she screws or who she doesn’t. What makes her so special???? Oh, and her recent “mystery date” is sooooooo transparent a ploy to try and make it look like she’s over him. Problem is…. he’s probably screwing someone else and is too busy to notice………

Gorgeousmama, August 17, 2008 at 4:40 AM

I love FTLY! This drama is engaging. I agree with earlier comments that Qiao En is a very good actress. She does draw you to her character in this drama…you feel her pain, her helplessness & her naiveness. I read somewhere that the role of cun xi was turned down by Ming Dao. Ming Dao & Qiao En do look good together but I think Ethan Ruan fits the charater of Cun Xi best. He has a wider range of emotions & his delivery of his lines are good. Watch Fated to Love You…I think it will end soon…2 more episodes, actually.

Deleted: The Game, August 18, 2008 at 5:26 PM

It’s so important that Gemini Division does well for the interactive web TV genre. It’s precisely the kind of innovative product that injects the interactivity of the internet into the traditional lean back viewing model of old media. Its success would bring much needed attention to a groundswell of indie interactive web TV projects like ours.

One gripe though is geoblocking the show to the US, I think its a cop out, failing to fully embrace the tenets of operating on the internet by making it virally distributable and available worldwide.

Karsten, August 19, 2008 at 3:54 PM

I became stoked about “Gemini division” after reading the article in Wired magazine. As I live in Norway, I was very disappointed yesterday when I realized none of the clips on the site (trailers, episodes.. etc) will play for an international (potential) viewer like me. No use for me writing about “Gemini division” to Norwegian blog readers either, so I have to choose to forget about it.

But it is too bad, and I agree with “Deleted: The Game” when he calls this “a cop out, failing to fully embrace [a global audience]“.

I can’t check out “Gemini division”, but I wish I could. Is that a place in which a producer would like to put its audience?

I disagree, proof in point, who is Terra Naomi? And unfortunately if she isn’t going to make herself interesting enough for me, i do not have the time or interest to search her out. The market is infested right now with artists independent or otherwise who don’t have a thing to say and weak/manufactured music. Anyone who can find a way to separate themselves from the sheepish herd will, in fact, connect more with their audience and create a more emotionally connected and loyal fan base. Alicia Gatto is not only a trailblazer she is a meaningful artist with an uncanny ability to resist becoming stale in such a stagnant creative climate.

I use a lot of 3d apps, adobe CS3, et cetera…. never a problem. I don’t see what the big deal is. I think bashing MS is old. And yes, I have used a Mac and liked it. Choice. Thanks.

bill, September 13, 2008 at 10:47 AM

I use Linux Opensuse for my professional life and XP to play games. Microsoft has let greed take control of its development and they take advantage of the fact that most people will buy any stinking turd as long as its in a pretty package. If more PC game companies developed for Linux OS i would just format over windows and never use it again. When games begin to require direct x 10 to run, XP users will be in for a big surprise as dx10 is only supported by Vista. Its a deliberate attempt by MS to force consumers not only to buy that pile of crap vista but also to spike sales for their cohorts in consumer shafting, i.e. dell, hp and gateway.

It’s a spoof training video made by Ricky Gervais (who wrote and started in the UK version of “The Office”). It was made for Microsoft UK (and “leaked” although I’m sure did they it on purpose).

These two videos show Microsoft can laugh at themselves and does a far better job of making them look “cool” than these new adverts. But maybe as a UK citizen I’m based because this has people I know (Seinfeld isn’t that famous over here). They are also 20 minutes long, which rules then out as adverts…

I disagree with this as well! Go check out her blogs and her own personal response to this article. She is a pretty unique woman with some incredible talent and the guts to do something that not many do. If you take one second to step back and think about how hard it is for the average artist to make it in this world, and then add in the fact that she is doing it her own way without the help of major coorporations and labels, well you’ve got one rebelious schmebel! Alicia Gatto is the real deal…so deal with it.

Liz Shannon Miller – you are a terrible writer. If you are trying to write comedy – You are a complete failure. It’s not easy is i? Who’s laughing at your garbage attempt at humor? Are you? Show your column around your office. You’re really bad at this.

Erica, September 21, 2008 at 4:00 PM

I’ve been watching her channel for a couple of weeks now and I really love her methods and style. It’s especially nice that she’s Filipino (as am I) because it’s nice to see recommendations based on our skin tone!
Keep it goin’, Aubrey…you’re awesome!!

Nora, September 21, 2008 at 4:13 PM

Will … still there are some people on youtube that are better and diserve more appreciation than her….and they have better techniqes
One of her negative views about products is the one she gave about purmenirals..she never stated that she resieved these products for free to promote them..and she said that she loved them without even trying..and she resieved the whole line of products..how could she love each one of then and I don’t see that she uses any thing from purmenirals exept for one product
I think we are not dump as she think us…I preffer watching authentic persons whome I can believe about product reviews…like(iamgrape1119) she never resieved free products but in stead buys with her own money and preview..that’s the kind of person I wana watch

Lady, September 21, 2008 at 7:11 PM

She’s okay… I like her personality (she’s so cute), but there are a lot of better ones @ Youtube. Like Leesha (xsparkage) or Lauren (panacea81).

Girlie, September 21, 2008 at 8:59 PM

Aubrey’s such a doll! lol I love her videos and she is very easy to relate to. I’m not Asian, but her techniques have helped me to better my own. Keep it up Aubrey!

MaryV, September 21, 2008 at 9:02 PM

Are you serious? Aubrey’s fans do not appreciate you coming on here and saying this person or whoever is better…. This author is in no way saying that Aubrey is the best on youtube… Another thing I’d like to point out is that most of the others have had their accounts for over a year and Aubrey just started hers in February and has that many subscribers…so yeah, way to go Aubrey!

Valerie Nebukina8490, September 22, 2008 at 1:14 AM

I love Aubrey’s videos, she does it in her own way and that’s why it works for her.Everyone complains that gets all her stuff for free like she never buys her own makeup and besides if a company offered you guys free stuff you would definitely take it.Just because people think there’s someone better than her it doesn’t mean she isn’t due the credit she deserves:)

Jacquelyn, September 22, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Aubrey is so amazing with her makeup/hair skills. Ever since I watched her videos, I felt inspired by her and learning every technique of how to apply eyeshadow the right way. She has so much creativity and it’s not even funny. I hope she does become famous one day and be known throughout the world!!!

Great news, that today the Supreme Court granted a stay of execution so they can review this case. Executing a possibly innocent man before the evidence has been thoroughly reviewed would not only be a miscarriage of justice for Mr. Davis, but also for Mark Allen McPhail, the police officer who was killed while going to the defense of a homeless man being pistol-whipped in a parking lot. If he is innocent, his execution would likely mean that the real guilty party would never be brought to justice.

I’m also glad to see CBS taking such proactive interest in such an issue. It’s a welcome change from so much of the entertainment-oriented slant of MSM news, and I imagine the journalists involved feel some justified professional pride in working on this kind of story.

killertv, September 24, 2008 at 11:48 AM

I am an aspiring writer working as an assistant in the industry and I regularly watch ScriptGirl even though I read the trades every day. She provides a specific news service – essentially, wrapping up all the news I care about in three minutes that I can watch on my iPhone. What hasn’t been explored yet in digital video is this sort of news cast targetted towards a very specific demographic – in this case, those who want to know what’s getting sold and is in development. In this case, it’s not ScriptGirl herself which keeps me watching, but the content in ScriptGirl’s videos.

Similar to how-to videos, I think this type of focused informational video has a place in web video. ScriptGirl is the only one I’m aware of who provides a niche focused broadcast like this, though I’m sure there are others. If not, this could be a huge area for potential online video growth. Considering how well local news stations have done posting segments, anchored vlogs or short news stories targeted to a specific niche audience could create a built-in audience that wants a free service catered to them and racks up the views.

perspiringwriter, September 24, 2008 at 12:10 PM

Sci-fi junkies seldom watch the history channel.
Adults seldom watch The Wiggles (unless they must sit in proximity to their small children.)
Many of my friends never “got” Buffy or Angel. Yet there they were.

The key in evaluation a show like this would seem to be:
Is there a need?
Is that need filled?
Is that need filled in an entertaining way?

I say “Yes” on all three.
Regarding the need: I like the fact that I don’t have to wade through (or even subscribe to) Variety. I have a full time job, and I write on the side. I don’t need all the boring minutiae. I just want to feel like I’m plugged in, just a bit. I want to know that others are doing what I hope to do. And maybe, just maybe, I want a little encouragement. THERE is the need…and there are many, many people just like me.

Regarding the filling: ScriptGirl fills that need by handpicking a few pieces of information. She’s a friendly (and lovely) face. She’s obviously not aimed at the people at the industry, who sneer that her information is hours, or even (gasp!) DAYS old. I could care less. Hey, I’m a busy husband, father and full-time breadwinner. It’s ALL news to me. So what if it already hit the shared groupmind of the entertainment industry? It’s not for them. Its for me, the common man or woman. She’s inviting me to think about getting out of the world I’m in…and aspiring to do more.

Plus: man, she’s easy on the eyes. That never sucks.

Regarding the entertaining ways: well, to begin, see my previous sentence. And as far as production values, may I remind everyone that South Park has somehow managed to survive its high school production values? Everyone needs to gather ’round the Well of Perspective, and drink… drink deeply.

Bottom line: ScriptGirl has it going on. It’s not for everyone…but what is? Personally, I’m sold.

Liz Shannon Miller,

I have a question, and then a comment about you. I am sure being an editor such as you are that you are open to public feed back and subjective constructive feedback. And yes the name is in relationship, but that has no bearing to this comment. Do you enjoy your power sitting there behind your desk and writing what you think, which is I am sure your “job description” But in fact have you watched these shows in their full length, and do you obtain self gratification for knocking others, when you in fact do not have the fortitude to go beyond your safe haven of a dark corner somewhere hidden away from the public. This is because at some point in time you were so belittled or berated by someone, hurt so badly, your only measure of success is to point out the flaws of others. I think all of these shows are fantastic, it is amateur talent working on getting better, and developing. And your farm club so to speak, is exactly that, your terminology shows me you are more then likely the type that would go to a ball game in a pretty pink uniform for another sport and ask what period it was. So just to educated YOU, a farm club is a system where a TEAM (something you know nothing about) is groomed, developed and ENCOURAGED to bring their talents to the next level. Not a place to be belittled every step of the way. Take a long look in the mirror sweet heart, life is not made up of playing on the computer, sex in the city, and reality shows. I would hope the people at revision3beta would take a good hard look at this. They are talented people that do not waste their time with no talent productions. The only un-talented person i see on this entire site is you.

Regards,
Marcus Gates

Claiming that Soulja Boy is someone that the current and upcoming generation can relate to: THAT MAKES NO SENSE. If you believe these generations can only relate to dancing, clothes and “swag”, you obviously lack the depth of character and insight to hold an intelligent argument concerning anything, especially the relevance of content in music. Of couse you are gonna get people who don’t like you, but everyone agrees that she is so freakin great at what she does! Why are people still talking about the purminerals video??!? I mean, seriously, if she gets free stuff and tries it, it’s her life! Companies have sent her things to try to get their name out on YouTube so THEY can get more customers! All the haters seriously need to get a life and find someone else to hate on that truly deserves it! Honestly, I am so happy to see that she has become this successful! Come on now, she’s been makin videos on YouTube for 8 months now and already has 33,000 subscribers!??!? Who else on YouTube has had that many people in that short time subscribe??!? Anyway, she is such an inspiration to many of us here on YouTube. She’s one of the reasons I started an account and starting posting videos on my own! I wish nothing but the best for her! Thanks, Aubrey, for everything!!!!

It is sickening to think that any person would side with Soulja Boy on this. I’m not American and people all around the world think Americans have no sense. African Americans used to have your music. Concious rap is virtucally non-existent and other Black people from the Caribbean, like myself, have no respect for what Black Americans stand for. You need to wake up. The YouTube uploads were reported by Silicon Valley Insider as being done by an SNL staffer, hence why they weren’t removed. They weren’t officially uploaded, but they were officially sanctioned.

Joe Sixpack, October 7, 2008 at 1:32 PM

Palin was a joke long before SNL started writing jokes about her.

Niraj, October 7, 2008 at 1:35 PM

I’m not sure how you conclude SNL shot itself in the foot. If they’re being over-the-top in portraying Palin as inexperienced and bumbling, then isn’t the point that her overall image would be diminished and she would lose popular support? Amy Poehler and Tina Fey haven’t pulled any punches in making fun of Palin, so I’d expect that to contribute to Palin’s drop in ratings/polls.

Jesse Kopelman, October 7, 2008 at 1:37 PM

Comedy does not need to be fair and balanced. Hammond’s McCain is not superior to Armisen’s Obama, in terms of quality of impersonation, it’s just that McCain’s real world shtick is already quite funny (all the “my friends” and name dropping). Finally, SNL did not make Palin into a joke, she was pretty much a joke to almost everyone from day one. The second I saw her I thought: this lady looks like Tina Fey and says stupid stuff, I bet we will see Tina Fey doing her in the season premier of SNL in a few weeks. It’s kind of silly to claim SNL is ripping off The Daily Show when the Jon Stewart version of the Daily Show is clearly a (superior) ripoff of Weekend Update. Also, SNL has a very long history of beating any popular character into the ground and has done this many times with Politicians. Go back to season 1 and take a look at Chevy Chase’s Gerald Ford. Dana Carvey is still milking his HW Bush decades later. Liz, I think you’re just not very familiar with SNL.

Ryan, October 7, 2008 at 1:40 PM

This article is pretty asinine. I mean, I think you’re assuming far more relevancy than SNL actually possesses.

And no one does a better job of making Sarah Palin look like a fool than Sarah Palin, doggone it.

jon, October 7, 2008 at 1:48 PM

The thing about Gov Palin, is that it’s not really like SNL is spoofing her.
They’ve used her exact words, verbatim, in some of their skits.
Many people, not GOP diehards, came away from that debate last week, in stunned disbelief… like this couldn’t be happening. This woman couldn’t be running for VP.
So, while Tina Fey is good as Gov Palin, it’s probably the easiest gig she’s ever had.
Because seeing Gov Palin, either in interviews or at the debate, she’s a parody within herself.

Peter Coffin, October 7, 2008 at 2:22 PM

No, they aren’t as good of writers as Matt/Trey, but they are damn good nowadays. Everything now has a beginning, middle, and an end. We have exposition, rising action, climax, and resolution a large portion of the skits (the ones that require them, anyway). The jokes contained within an actual structure are very funny and they actually go somewhere.

SNL shouldn’t be insulted for bad writing. Insult online video for bad writing. The people who do this stuff (and I am one of them) are basically completely new to writing and make all the classic mistakes. Browse YouTube for a while and it’s painful. Granted we have a minute or two to do what TV does in 5-10, but it’s not a good excuse.

If YT suddenly becomes better than SNL over the next week, then insult SNL. Otherwise, concentrate on who really needs improvement. And I am including myself in that group.

I’m sorry, but I just finished watching PG PORN and I can’t stop laughing my arse off. Sent it along to several friends and likewise, their arses were also “laughed off,” so to speak.

I highly doubt the series creators were concerned with creating a work of high nuance – they wanted to hit on the key points of porn and bring it all together for a big finish.

And to say that it’s not “sexy”…. well, sheesh… I don’t remember the last time a woman has made me blush like Ariana. Maybe I’m just a boob-o-holic, who knows?

Terry Richards, October 8, 2008 at 1:15 PM

I checked out Showbizzle and have a very different viewpoint. Finally, someone gets it! professionally produced videos, engaging storytelling. Far cry from the crap that is currently being thrown at us…sophomoric humor, brief titillating moments or violence. I am interested to see how this evolves. The writing is quite different than anything else. No special effects, just good old-fashioned storytelling….And I am not a loser actor looking for work in Hollywood. I notice the date of this review. Perhaps the editor reviewed Showbizzle before it was in production… I applaud this new form of creative storytelling and format.

Beyonce’s song and video knock it out the park. I love that it was a stripped down video that focused on her singing and dancing only, and I thought the black and white photography made it look very classic. You got a lot of women and some guys trying to learn the moves from the video. So, I think it sells the song very well.

Rich, October 18, 2008 at 12:55 PM

Actually, bnap is right. This disc will not play in blu-ray players either. I’ve tried it in a Samsung and a PS3 and both don’t recognize it. Great promotion for blu-ray! To be fair, my Samsung only plays about half of the BR discs I rent anyway… the BR technology is definitely still beta.

Beyonce’s video was so simple which is the reason why its so good. No smoke and mirrors just regular old school dancing, BTW im tired of seeing britney spears nekkid lol but my husband isnt lol

Lisa, October 18, 2008 at 3:47 PM

Britney’s video was EVERYTHING predictable and already done 5x before from her! Beyonce’s is definitely more fun and memorable. The first I viewed the video – I could just imagine the number of people (male and female) trying to re-create the entire dance sequence for Youtube pleasure. That’s how you make a smash and draw people in.

Kenny, October 18, 2008 at 5:31 PM

I think their two different woman and people always compare them…but Beyonce’s was very mesmerizing love how addictive it is. At first I didn’t care for it but hooked after the third viewing.

badazzblackboy, October 18, 2008 at 7:13 PM

BEYONCE IS WAY BETTER! don’t get me wrong! i do like britney! i got nothing against the girl, but beyonce works it!! the song and video is different! just a simple video! im sick and tired of all these videos atm! ther tryin to make them a bit weird and it gets a bit boring! but beyonce’s video is just fresh! no cuts, no different scenes! just one whole bit! and besides beyonce has spent a year on this! britney just has help from others! being naked is not guna help!

Patricia, October 19, 2008 at 10:26 AM

the Critic, October 29, 2008 at 5:09 AM

beats my review hands-down…I don’t think I could even spell Haiku.

I didn’t like House Poor, however. Mindy’s cameo in Global Warming was much more entertaining than her show IMHO and as much as it pains me to diss Bob Newhart, 6 minutes of opening a DVD cover was 6 minutes too much – the big self-congratulatory closing credits was completely out of place in regards to the content of the show, too.

You are spot-on regarding pacing as being key in online video and not necessarily the length. I would add that a mini story-arch is also important, that or to present a gag or shock, viral video style, in each episode.

Them’s my two cents. Keep putting out the good stuff.

Webseriesblog, October 30, 2008 at 9:49 PM

I agree that the No on 8 ads have been lame. It confirms my belief that the gay community is still anti-straight, full of the same bigotry they claim they are victims of, and lack understanding as to how straight people think. Until this issue is resolved, seeing respectable human beings from both sides, no election will bring fruition to the gay’s dreams of equality. Hypocrisy is not limited to sexual orientation. These ads made me wonder just how serious are they about this?!?

I don’t think the ads are as much of the problem as the overall approach. The “no” ads followed a pattern of characterizing proponents of the proposition as being against equal rights. There was never a recognition that good people can have both opinions. There was also a denial that there would be any negative effect to failure of proposition 8. People just got tired of hearing all the name-calling and started realizing that there could be an effect.

Drew Baldwin, November 13, 2008 at 10:31 AM

The focus of the series was on the ubiquity of coverage and at&t’s extensive presence in the United States which allows customers never really to get lost no matter where they go–thanks to GPS, AIM, email, internet, phone, photos, video, etc. And Jill you are right–the supporting content (twitter updates, vlogs, blog posts and pics) is light–for now. We and the girls certainly captured plenty behind the scenes footage and extra feature content and I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of that in the next cities.

As the series evolves I think you’ll notice in Austin and Chicago there is even less emphasis on product and more about how these intensely connected individuals (Justine and Karen)–who cannot go for a second without being in touch with their audience–can still be in touch, and fully, no matter where they go, thanks to at&t. And we have even more fun as Studio8’s creative genius is fully unleashed in wild, wild, Texas.

If viewers can take anything from the series (especially after the dramatic finale), it would be inspiration to grab their phones and get out of and see the world (or the country, rather) and not be afraid to rely upon this extraordinary portable technology that enables us not only to find our way but to stay in touch and share our experiences with others.

The greatest part about doing this series was rediscovering the concept of geography. When we spend most of our day online interacting with people who aren’t there, and whose location is somewhat irrelevant, it is refreshing to get out and feel and smell the real world. And I think at&t hit that point with Lost In America.

Thanks for the review.

NTV! Thank you for checking out our little series. Yes, you nailed it when you called it “ambitious” because it’s definitely one of the biggest, craziest projects we’ve ever taken on. We’ve worked with Justine on a few projects and she’s always a real pro and an absolute treat. Studio 8 produces a variety of comedic items – one-off sketches, commercials, and scripted series, but this was our first “reality” project and we were intimidated. We had to hit the ground running (literally many times) and just hoped that we could keep everything pretty and fun.

I think we started hitting our groove in the Chicago and Alaska episodes, so don’t forget to check those out starting next week.

New devices, new characters, and new surprises await!

That was dorky.

Not sure whats not to like, Jill. We finally start to see some advertiser supported/created content that is actually entertaining in its own right and you think thats a bad thing? What about branding and not just direct response objectives? Maybe by the end of the series you will be a convert, rather than having to suffer through an overt, obnoxious, over-the-top brand integration in the first episode.

Great job here on subtle, natural, organic product integration that doesn’t make the viewer want to throw up. Instead, they’ll keep coming back for more.

Kudos to AT&T for NOT pushing their brand on us and instead bringing us some truly entertaining content. See you ladies in the next city!

Struder, November 15, 2008 at 2:35 PM

I disagree on one count here: Scriptgirl is not good at the mike. To me, she seems desperate to sell you on how charming she is, failing miserably in the same way an amateur screenwriter will pack a script full of crying scenes because he thinks that will be dramatic. She has a fundamental misunderstanding of what she needs as a screen presence and until she fixes that, her youtube popularity will have most likely peaked. Doing things on youtube doesn’t mean they can’t be done well.

I also question whether she really is involved in Hollywood at all, but that’s a whole other subject.

JoAlex, November 15, 2008 at 3:05 PM

For the uninitiated, know that Ms. Miller’s above review is an incredibly brittle and, dare I say, bitchy take on the ScriptGirl reports. I am a female Los Angeleno who, of course, writes screenplays in her spare time and, after first being put off in my dark feminist core by all the decolletage on display in the vids, have come to see that the whole thing is done with wink and a refreshing sense of humour that is very hard to stay mad at. I now count myself among ScriptGirl’s regular viewers and, as in the above reader review, I find that I get all the information I need about what’s going on in the screenplay biz in her breezy little updates.

Also, I strongly disagree with Ms. Miller about the production values and the comedic digressions of the show. Look, if I want top notch production and graphics, I’ll watch ET or Access Hollywood (yeesh). ScriptGirl’s videos are shot in her office and their off the cuff feel is part of the charm. As for the comedy, Ms. Miller notes one off tune bit and neglects to mention that many of the bits are laugh out loud funny (crudely animated or not) and filled with all manner of inside humour for movie buffs. She did a piece with a time travelling, foul mouthed Ray Liotta hiding from the mob in Civil War era army that was so spot on in tone I sent it to both GOODFELLAS fans AND Ken Burns fans on my friends list. And a few weeks back she did a Beatnik CSI: San Francisco that had Allen Ginsberg conducting a forensic investigation while paraphrasing HOWL and Jack Kerouac doing his best David Caruso. How is that “crude, Epic Movie style comedy” Ms Miller? You seem to have a wee axe to grind…you undersell ScriptGirl’s popularity as well. 50,000 views? Many of her vids have hundreds of thousands of views. So clearly there are others out there who feel as I do. Also, as my final word on her behalf, I will mention that I wrote to ScriptGirl a few months back on YouTube with a question about screenwriting seminars. I half expected not to receive an answer but to my surprise she wrote back the next day. Along with a warm and encouraging note she sent a thorough listing of seminars with notations for those she had heard good or bad things about. I found it very gracious of her to take the time.

Yo – been watching this show on vimeo…totally rocks it! Cafeo ain’t so soap actor! Chrishell is still on All My Children and super popular, and your youtube counter is whacky….I see thousands not hundreds…? What gives? Give these guys a break! Tony -

posted earlier, but they took me down. think because i left the website address…anyways, i love this show and so do my girlfriends. we’ve been watching long before youtube went up. the fun is watching luke (ryan) try to keep it together. epiosdes 3 & 7 are the best! i also see 1000’s not 100’s of hits…interesting….? jules

Sherry, November 24, 2008 at 12:42 PM

I started watching the episodes after the Wes Craven pick on Halloween (as far as I’m concerned Craven can do no wrong and I can’t wait for 25/8 to come out!). Overall I thought the show was pretty cool and I I’m hoping they get more into the backstory with more episodes. The problem I have with almost all webseries is that its just really hard to build a solid story with great characters in such a short time. I think that’s why you see shows like Genesis having like 40 episodes. They’re so short that you have to do that. With that said, I think the Luke series does a pretty great job with peaking my interest with the main characters at least and considering the genre I think the dialogue is actually better than I expected.

[...] REVIEW: Web Series LUKE 11:17“Oddly enough, [LUKE 11:17] mines the more genteel pastures of daytime soaps for many of its performers. Ryan V. Cafeo emoted for a nine-episode run on PASSIONS; Bernadette Wilkes once illuminated the set of GUIDING LIGHT; and Chrishell Stause IS a regular on ALL MY CHILDREN. As daytime drama is not often rife with subtle character studies either, it’s a surprisingly well-suited breeding ground for the future heroes and heroines of horror.” LUKE 11:17 Website [...]

Liz! Love the video!
Great job on the Dinner Rolls! Bread is not the easiest thing to master… You should feel very proud of yourself. I get pictures of the final product from viewers, but never see the whole floury mess. I really learned a lot from watching YOU! Thanks so much for the NTVS Thanksgiving lovin’!

scott, November 26, 2008 at 4:57 PM

Totally odd and weird review. For somebody who reviews webseries, I don’t think she gets the genre’ at all…

Check out the dudes at Tubefilter.tv these guys get what she don’t!

marisol, November 26, 2008 at 8:16 PM

Ah, give her a break guys. Sometimes they get it. Sometimes they don’t. Personally, I love love love it! I want to see more Luke and more Ryan, Chrishell and Karen!

Alyssia, November 27, 2008 at 1:22 AM

Not much on my mind worth mentioning. What can I say? I haven’t been up to much lately. It’s not important. Oh well.,

carly, November 27, 2008 at 8:50 AM

WOW! I’ve been following this show since it debuted last month. it is right up my alley. How sexy is Ryan Cafeo???? I think he’s the hottest guy on tv! Chrishell is so beautiful!

I agree with the other posters. this is the worst written review I have ever read. Someone needs to get back to writing basics. Really badly written. AND check your facts before you print. That’s journalism 101, babe! However, I do agree with you about the girl who plays the therapist. She’s really good. Don’t know her from Jamie Foxx show (once again a bizarro reference), but just saw her in a great Nip/Tuck rerun, and in The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson. She’s been doing comedy and drama work for YEARS.

Jay, November 28, 2008 at 9:52 AM

Bottom line —- the show is ten million times better then the reviewer! End of discussion. Episode 8…jesus!! All the other reviews (and there quite a lot out there if you google it) bring up the American Psycho/Magnolia/Dexter factor, and speak to the fact that this series is all about good vs. bad…light vs. dark…that’s what it is at it’s core. That’s what keeps me coming back again and again. What’s Luke going to do next? To see this guy get amped up to point of craziness and then have to simmer it down is what’s the fun!! And Ryan Cafeo does an amazing job with just that.

Jesse, November 28, 2008 at 1:50 PM

i don’t think it’s that bad of a review at all. it’s just not a typical review of story. although she does seem to slam soap actors a bit. i don’t get that. i am a big soap watcher. the main reason i started watching the show was because chrishell stause was on it. she is talented and gorgeous. first time i have ever seen ryan v. cafeo or the sister, but love them both. recognize the therapist lady from lots of tv. i love the way this show is acted, shot, and written.

carol, November 29, 2008 at 9:02 AM

Started watching because of Chrishell. What’s the reviewers problem with soap actors? And seriously what does one’s background in soaps have to do with this series? I am mad that you gave such a stupid review to my favorite show.

You guys are a new site that is supposed to be helping webseries. This is the best new webseries out there, yet you don’t get it. I think this reviewer should stick to writing about baby showers and pot luck dinners. This is obviously way over her head. This show is dark, sexy and has a wonderful cast. I have become a big fan of Ryan V. Cafeo. Looked him up on imdb and saw that he did a few episodes of Passions a long time ago. Hardly qualifies him to typed as a “soap actor”. I think newtevee needs to do much more research (as evident by all the addendums she has had to make). Strangely not one other review brought up the number of hits. But if you put them all together, we are now talking over 100,000 hits. CONGRATS to the Luke guys. This bitch will be reviewing you when your on HBO or Showtiime, asking for a one on one interviews with Ryan and Chrishell. I hope you tell her “no”.

John, November 30, 2008 at 10:02 AM

Love the series and by all accounts the producers did the smart thing, made it available in a myltitude of places. Youtube, Vimeo and even their own dark mysterious site. What amazed me the most is that these actors and actresses made me BELIEVE them. In 8 minutes I was hooked and mesmerized. Love the actors, love the show, love the web site. Showtime….what are you waiting for???????

Is it me, or does it seem like this reviewer hates webseries??

Antonia, December 2, 2008 at 12:57 PM

I’ve been watching on and off since Friday evening, and have been thoroughly entertained by the Driver Cam and the chatroom, though some friends find it hard to believe that watching people play Desert Bus could be so entertaining. But then again they didn’t know of the wonderful and engaging comedy of LoadingReadyRun.

As of noonish Tuesday, they have raised over $51,000 and have to play until well into Wednesday evening. Good luck guys!

Sarah, December 3, 2008 at 4:56 AM

I was so happy to hear the marathon would be back this year, as it’s becoming a bit of a tradition in our household. My husband and I listen to the Desert Bus Driver Cam while baking Christmas cookies; we discovered last year that it’s a soundtrack we can agree on. You really do get the sense of being in the middle of a party…at least during certain hours. Other times of day, when there are three lonely people in the room, and it’s up to the internet to keep them awake with silly questions and challenges, it becomes almost surreal. Either way, it’s hard to turn off!

Jean, December 3, 2008 at 5:07 AM

marissa, December 4, 2008 at 2:52 PM

LOVE the show. HATE this reviewer. Where did she learn to write? There are “real” reviews out there for this amazing show! I checked out tubefilter.tv they are THE site for webseries.

This show should be on network tv!

I love you, Ryan!

That is a great review. Talkshow with Spike Feresten is an awesome show. It had been on the air for about 3 years. It is about time fox give talkshow a new time slot. And an extra 30 minutes into their regular time. Spike should include is old late night boss David Letterman on the show. If that happens and Matt chin and Richard thompson appear on the show, He will be on the air every single night. I mean 5 nights a week.

Sharon, December 5, 2008 at 11:10 AM

Hi Everyone!

Can’t tell you how much I love Luke/Ryan! When are there more episodes up? I can’t get enough. The story just keeps me going and going. I can’t wait to see each new episode.

I do agree with the other poster that this reviewer sucks eggs. If anyone is reading this from newtevee, I think you should can this reviewer and get someone else who understands the genre’. I for one will never read another of this woman’s reviews/opinions. She stinks like a skunk!

E, December 6, 2008 at 12:16 AM

she did not ‘take on’ tough questions about honour killings. She just said words to the effect of it is wrong. Give that woman a prize for stating the obvious……ooops someone just did!

Queen Rania’s actually been speaking out for years against honor killings. Since 2003 she’s been a vocal supporter of legislation to increase the legal penalties, but so far, these bills have failed to pass Jordanian parliament. But Queen Rania and King Abdullah have consistently and vehemently condemned honor killings.

This piece was intended to focus mainly on the video content, as that’s what we do here, so space did not permit us to discuss her broader activity on every issue. As far as the video goes, in terms of taking on the topic: she did not ignore the question or deny the problem. It was a brief statement, yes — maybe even a blurb — but in that short statement she confronted several notions: that honor killings are happening every day in Jordan; that they are widely accepted by a majority of the population; that they are validated and supported by the tenets of Islam; and that the Jordanian government (or at least the monarchy) is a supporter of the status quo.

As the intent of the video series was to confront and dispel stereotypes and misconceptions, by this writer’s estimation that makes her handling of the topic a successful one.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

WTF??!!! Agree… This reviewer sucks eggs. I have read a couple of her reviews now, and she can’t write, can’t review, can’t get her facts straight. Luke 11:17 is the BEST new webseries out there! Ryan Cafeo rocks it! What’s her problem with soap actors…? Chrishell Stause is beautiful and talented and is going places. I will never go on your site after this. I’m hanging at tubefilter.tv. They support the world they are in. EVERYBODY don’t go here until they can this reviewer.

Liz Shannon Miller, December 10, 2008 at 11:36 AM

I’m confused by the negative reaction to this review, as Julia’s comments about Luke 11:17 are overall positive. While opinions may differ regarding the abilities of actors from the soap opera world (it is possibly an unfair generalization), Julia is clear about how she feels that the show is a success as a horror web series.

And I’d like to believe that people can disagree without reducing their arguments to crude insults. (But I’m kind of naive.)

Thanks for reading, guys!

YT is great for UGC. Ning is great for social networking clocked up one level above YT. We play nicely within the Ning ecosystem that allows adding clicakble / interactive video, which makes the video lean-in, immersive, more engaging and fun.

By 2012, everyone will have rich interactive media on their sites.

I’ll tell you why Liz Shannon Miller. It’s a BADLY written review. It’s not just that she doesn’t get web series, it’s that it is BADLY WRITTEN!! Get it. She is anything but CLEAR…she’s a frigging mess as a writer. If I were her I’d be worried about running into Luke Vincent in a dark alley somewhere.

Once again, Liz Shannon Miller (god I hate women with three names…soooo pretentious) writer of Luke 11:17 = GOOD. Julia Diddy = Bad. Is everyone on this site wrong? No, Liz Shannon Miller.

suzanne, December 13, 2008 at 5:42 PM

Everyone knows how great Luke is. The fan base speaks for itself. Us Luke fans are rabid.

I too think that Julia can’t write. But don’t attack the woman above. CLEARLY it’s Julia who wrote it.

So, not only is she a bad writer, bagged on my fave series AND my fave soap actors, but she is so pathetic as to write in as another person begging for forgiveness. It’s sad.

Also, hey Julia if you really did your homework (which it’s so clear that you don’t bother to do) you would have noticed that nor only was Karen Maruyama great in this, but she also DIRECTED!!!! Doh! That’s another one you fucked up. Guys….can her ass!

Mandy, December 14, 2008 at 9:43 AM

Okay Guys:

I am a web junkie! I live by what tubefilter.tv says. I found Luke 11:17 because of them.

My girlfriends and I are HUGE fans of Luke 11:17! We LOVE LOVE LOVE the character and Ryan V. Cafeo!

We have all read Julia’s review and all agree on one thing. SHE IS NOT CLEAR AT ALL!! Sometimes it seems like she likes the show, and then she’ll go and “slam” it at the same time. Like she makes her STUPID assessment about hits (which by the way, what reviewer talks about hits in a review…? How is that even fucking relevant…then on top of that she gets it wrong?), bags on soaps, and comes up with the OLDEST credit for Karen Maruyama that she has on imdb. That’s why all of us Luke fans think it’s a BAD review.

This show is going to EXPLODE, and you guys won’t even be able to get a PA on the phone to talk to you!

Until Julia publicly accepts that she is a hack, my girlfriends and I (and most of USC) are boycotting you.

Good job Julia. Way to piss off an entire campus! FYI my writing class used this review as an EXAMPLE OF BAD WRITING!!!! How DARE she say anything about the writing in Luke. How did she get this job anyway…? i agree with John….I’d be watching out for Luke Vincent…and me! I’ve never wanted to kick someone’s ass as much as I do you…! The more i write the more I pissed off I get, so I’m O.U.T.

Cateyes -

Sean, December 14, 2008 at 10:48 AM

…oh for Christ’s sake…leave her alone!! The review is fine. It’s just her opinion. That’s what a review is for. There is no right or wrong when someone is stating their opinion.

I love the show, too. I think she did too. Lighten up everybody. They are PROMOTING Luke, which ultimately means they LIKE THE SHOW!

Here’s on guy who’s into the show, AND respects this review. Hang in there, Julia.

Coldplagiarism, December 14, 2008 at 3:49 PM

No doubt Coldplagiarism happened here. Coldplay’s arrogance will bite them in the ass. Any real musician can see how extremely close both the melody and the chord progression are. While it is true that you can’t copyright a chord progression, the work in question becomes all the more suspect when you add a virtually identical melody on top of a chord sequence that is almost exactly the same as well. Furthermore, even if you give Coldplay the benefit of the doubt that this was unintentional, it doesn’t matter. Satriani still owns the copyright to the intellectual property that was employed in Viva La Vida. Ignorance is not an excuse. If Coldplay is smart, they will try to settle this out of court.

Get the Coldplagiarism shirt!!

One last thing – these two songs are not in the same key. In fact, they are about as far away as you can get as they are a tritone apart (exactly half the octave from one another, which puts it right in the middle whether you transpose up or down. You can’t get any further away in key. None of this matters though because key is irrelevant. It’s like arguing over what font is used in a plagiarized essay. The words are still the same. The reason why some people think the key is the same is because of the youtube clip where the songs were pitch shifted so they could be combined as a comparison. Those clips are now gone because Coldplay’s record company doesn’t want the bad publicity and youtube needs to grow a pair and understand the concept of fair use.

Adam, December 14, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Calm down everyone! They reviewed the show and are getting new people to watch it. So, you should stop bashing the reviewer and the site. The review really wasn’t that bad, and she said there were parts that she liked.

As a fan of the show I can admit that it’s not always going to be everyone. You can disagree with her review but still be positive about it. You’re making the Luke fan base look crazy (and not in a good way!)

Plus there’s a spot to write your own review! If you love Luke as much as you all say you do, then write your own review to get the word out there!

Why do you think sci-fi fans wouldn’t watch the history channel. Science fiction fans and writers are amongst the most intelligent people around. You underestimate them if you don’t think they’re well-rounded people. Many that I know are very much into history. In fact a good science fiction writer needs a knowledge of where we’ve come from to accurately speculate on where we are going.

Well if Sparta is still having identity crisis just do cat stuff. Like dragging bags or playing with a mouse and my cat does play with bags and get stuck in them.So his name is jingles and i have another one named Salem and jingles is a lot like yours the same markings. Also play with a string. That’s all i can give you .You half to do cat stuff it will probably just change him back. One more thing just try and help him let him chase moving thing’s.SPARTA AND YOU ROCK!

I don’t know.. is it just REQUIRED everyone drink of the Whedon Kool Aid? Now.. I enjoyed Buffy.. and Angel.. and even Firefly (probably the first MAJOR lead for Fillion). But.. c’mon.. isn’t the WHOLE entire concept of PG Porn.. well.. to lampoon the silliy cliches of the Porn film? Much like another porn joke, “Logjammin’” from The Big Lebowski about the cable installer that ‘fixes the cable’.. although.. instead of the normal pay off, being sex, it isn’t here.. that’s the joke.. as twisted as it was (I laughed my head off). I just wonder.. perhaps maybe a female may not be the most.. neutral observer.. yeah.. if we WANTED porn.. well hell.. if we wanted porn, we wouldn’t be watching this which.. if you ever read the TITLE alone pretty much says there’s no sex. granted.. its a one note joke.. but I enjoyed the twisted take of Rosenbaum’s 2 entires as well.. and the.. rather flat porn acting really is part and parcel of the package.. great work.. and I hope they keep it up.. its not going to be on for a decade.. but then again, how many times could we see the “continuing” adventures of Dr. Horrible? even as much as I enjoyed it.. seeing it a few times is enough.. and I am not so sure on the possibility of follow up installments.. PG Porn, much like the real thing.. comes and goes fast.. hopefully it makes you laugh. and.. well “Nailing Your Wife” while.. cheesy.. well it has a BIG ending.. and it did just that, it did make me laugh…. while its funny, probably won’t hold up on many repeat viewings.. then again most shows on the airwaves don’t even..

Hi, Chris, you make some really interesting points here! Can you please drop me an email at lizshannon@gigaom.com? I have a question I’d like to ask you.

Sinohui Hinojosa, January 5, 2009 at 9:59 AM

First off, I couldn’t be happier with our first official review of EXIT Stage Left. Both Liz’s insight to the work we have done so far (prior to launch, blogs, updates and other content) and the very astute comments by FilmChris. As for our “wildcard”, I completely agree with the analysis of the characterization of our over-the-top stage actress and her place in the show, but it is indeed our intent to bring her full circle and slowly reveal what makes her tick, why she is there and most importantly the person behind the facade. It is my viewpoint that each character needs to be believable and the responses we have received to date (especially from theater patrons, actors and producers) makes me think we are on the right track.

I also wanted to acknowledge the fine work of our composer and editor, Joel H Hinojosa who’s work in designing the sound and musical cues for the show (not to mention the deft pacing and editing) makes the show look as good as it does (if you get a chance, his short subject doc will be playing at this year’s Slamdance, please check out the trailer at his site http://www.littlewhitelinesmovie.com), plus be sure to watch for our new show opening starting with episode two on Jan 10th.

Finally I would be remiss without mentioning the two unsung heroes of the production, our producers Bernard Fok and Thomas A Koch, without them, this would still be an idea that I had in the middle of Sept 2008, instead of the start of something special.

I’ll see you at the theater….

Sally Clawson – Our Official F.O.T.S.
Sally you are our first official FAN OF THE SHOW.

I can’t tell you how great that is, thanks for watching…we have a lot more in store for the Lowry Theater Company and hope you keep watching. I’ll be sure to post a photo of your award on our site later this week.

:-) Cheers and have a great day.

Thank you foe finally bringing up the irrelevancy of key. Each key does have it’s own unique flavor but that’s not enough. Another analogy is a younger sibling copying an older. They won’t say it on the same voice but it is still copying and still annoying. As far as those who think musical overlap is inevitable there are infinite possibilties in music. Music sounds similar because of the interaction between artists and the music they listen to. We don’t hear Indian influences in coldplay but by the argument of musical overlap some popular music would inevitably have to. It’s nor like there’s a finite amount of possibilities that sound good just a finite amount of people who search for them and chris martin you aren’t one of them. Get a day job

Corey Fischer, January 22, 2009 at 11:11 PM

Marvelous beginning! I must admit, though, that not being used to this form — five minute webisodes — I find myself wanting more! more! more! At the same time, I’m amazed at how much can be packed into 5 minutes — characters, plot, even a hint of back story. I thought Michael Navarra and Steve Budd are terrific and can imagine their relationship escalating with some great comedy along the way.

I wonder why producers chose to set it in NYC. rather than San Francisco, which has plenty of Lowry-like companies. So far, I haven’t gotten any sense of place. At lease use some paper coffee cups with pictures of the parthenon on them (from NYC’s ubiquitous Greek diners).

I also can’t help but notice quite a similarity to one of my favorite TV shows of all time: “Slings and Arrows” from Canada, a brilliant behind the scenes take on a big institutional theatre, like the Stratford Festival or the Guthrie in the U.S. Written and acted by some of Canada’s most gifted comic actors. And impeccably well-observed. And surprisingly moving. Each 6 episode season had an arc that went from first rehearsal through the opening of, in order, Hamlet. the Scottish Play and King Lear. Some actually excellent Shalespeare performance and analysis along the way. If you like ESL, you should check out “Slings and Arrows” DVDs of all 3 seasons on Netflix.

First, we have to remember that we, as the general public, do not know what happened that day. And we have ALL been interrupted while concentrating on something very intently and might have used the F word in frustration. However, to have 3 minute rant about professionalism, shout obsenities at the top of you lungs and have to be pulled away from the situation by the director, there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for that behavior. I do not care that they are temperamental artists, they were shooting foe hours or it was hot that day, for him to tell him off in such a manner is deplorable. The DP saw a problem and was doing his job, if he made a mistake no one should repremand him except for his superiors on the set and certainly not to that extent.

RJ, February 13, 2009 at 10:17 AM

I have to say, I’ve seen the video a few times now and I always see the same thing: Letterman making fun of him and Joaquin getting pissed. It seems to me that Letterman started the attack, making fun of his appearance, his hair, his style, etc. And yet everything I read is about Joaquin’s rude behaviour. But what about Letterman’s rude behaviour?

jankystuart, February 13, 2009 at 1:31 PM

i agree… letterman is a an insensitive d-bag.

nearlynormalized, February 13, 2009 at 1:44 PM

Letterman is Letterman be prepared…Phoenix man child should not have gone on. Letterman, NYC, get over it and pass.

Unknown Nobody, February 13, 2009 at 4:05 PM

Phoenix is totally out of character in the way he acted on Letterman’s show. Who wears sunglasses to an interview unless they are trying to hide something. I like Joaquin’s acting but he was just strange that night. Letterman probably attacked too early but Joaquin was a *GUEST* He should have shown some appreciation.

Rawketgrl, February 14, 2009 at 1:23 AM

Can you say Letterman? Helloooo… you have to be on your game on his show. Perhaps in retrospect this was not the best venue to showcase JP’s talent? I am not sure of the correct venue however. Generally an unwillingness to participate with ‘the show’ is seen as an open door for ridicule. Come on it is entertainment people, somebody is taking himself it too seriously.

John W., February 15, 2009 at 2:48 AM

I don’t actually care, since I don’t have a vested interest in either of these two retards, but I honestly think Dave was pretty rude to Joaquin. Joaquin didn’t seem even remotely stoned (or whatever people are saying… and believe me when I tell you I know stoned) and he didn’t seem confused by the questions either. He seemed frustrated. There were no questions. It was a lynching. A retorical comic roast. Letterman was a bully, and Joaquin retreated into the only safe space he could… silence and contriteness. Letterman was simultaneously disrespectful and indignant (like when he flipped about the gum chewing). Seriously dude, you haven’t been funny or entertaining since the 80’s, so what gives you the right to be so judgemental and dickish? Exactly…. nothing. You’re a no-talent comic has-been, scheduled to be replaced soon.

Cheers,
J

John.

A rebuttal to JoAlex above: In trying to refute the author’s column, she wrote: “You (Ms. Miller) seem to have a wee axe to grind. You undersell ScriptGirl’s popularity as well. 50,000 views? Many of her vids have hundreds of thousands of views.” Yes, hundred of thousands of views which are now clearly BOGUS. In fact, here are the basic YouTube numbers (rounded) for the last three ScriptGirl shows:

02-20-09 ….. 27,000
02-27-09 ….. 19,000
03-13-09 ….. 5,000

Gee, notice a trend? Not to mention, the last time I checked, a rough average of 17,000 views was a far cry from “hundreds of thousands” of views. Well, unless you’re completely inept with numbers, in which case you’re probably employed as one of the bankers who recently helped collapse our entire economy. Now, for the record, did ScriptGirl ever hit a large number like JoAlex asserts? Well, that leads to another striking observation. If you go to ScriptGirl’s YouTube page, which lists her videos by date, take a look at the hits for each one. On 11-14-08, she did have 292,000 hits. So, she must have a lot of fans, right? Only problem is the following weeks — in succession — her numbers were 22,000… 11,000… 6,300… 13,000…16,000.

So, trying to defend SG by claiming she gets hits in the “hundreds of thousands” is laughable, if not outright disingenuous. Looking at her cumulative numbers, it’s pretty obvious that the only time SG gets an amazing number like the 292K is on those special weekends when SG hangs out with a friend or two, at which point they apparently have nothing better to do than to hit the refresh button on their computer web browsers for 48 straight hours to drive th eview numbers up. The truth is Liz Shannon Miller’s review was spot on. So good for her.

I’d have loved to see Angle of Death as a season – 20 or more episodes. But the 10 they did give us were awesome.

Amanda, March 23, 2009 at 5:18 PM

I’ve now watched every episode. Love, LOVE, LOVE the full length musical number. Barret Swatek “Kate” is incredibly likable. Being a single woman myself, I feel for Kate and laugh at her insecurities because i know them all too well. What’s so terrific is that WE all know Kate shouldn’t have any of these insecurities because she is nothing less than awesome. Franklin seems to be the tough talker fan while Teddy is the more loving – a great contrast. I can’t wait to see what happens on this show. And as far as the episode’s lengths…all but one, so far, seem to be tight and well done. And, even the one in question was enjoyable. Looking forward to what Kate and her loyal fans do next. Keep this one coming!

Lyn, March 23, 2009 at 7:56 PM

Love, Love, Love this series. It’s fun, it’s funny, it’s light-hearted and not heavy!!! Kate is AWESOME, but her two fans are just the perfect support/security-blanket for her. This is so much better than anything else on TV. Glad I found it.

jeffbach, March 25, 2009 at 6:46 AM

I watched it. #1 I always think of “Man From Atlantis” when I see Patrick Duffy. I’m not really a sci-fi guy, 1977, the year those movies came out, when I was 11, just happens to be one of the first years I can really remember. Next, I am reminded of my Dad who would express the same interested befuddlement over Facebook.

Good writing, what little there is (it is a short little piece). What the crab says fits with what I imagine a crab would say if it had a frenemy like PD and were casually sitting on a bed watching a laptop. Get those next 5 shorts out of the can and onto the screen!

Good stuff
JB

CLAY, March 25, 2009 at 9:04 AM

I think this is hilarious. I love that Duffy pokes fun at himself and I love that the crab is so cranky. What a fun duo. Would love to see more!

JoAlex, you are a sad creature. Asking ScriptGirl for advice on screenwriting seminars? Here’s some advice….STOP WRITING! Any person who considers themselves a “writer” and seeks to attend such nonsensical meetings is a born loser. Not only that, but you can’t even do the research yourself? Pathetic.

macnor, March 29, 2009 at 5:55 AM

Just saw the first installment. Interesting premise. I will watch other episodes. The F word could be left out in my opinion and still convey the gritty and harsh situation.

elastictime, March 31, 2009 at 4:40 AM

Like you, I am intrigued by the mash-up. Unlike the orchestra that will be performing live at Carnegie Hall, the mash-up will have the videos of many more contributors. And judging from what I saw prior to the public voting stage, many of those are very good. I understand that variances in pitch can be compensated for, but without people playing around you, it was very difficult for individuals to follow the beat just visually whilst recording their part for Tan Dun’s piece. Musicians feel a beat. During the creation of these individual contributions destined for mash-up, there were none of the usual auditory anchor points, unless, as some did, they listened to the LSO’s recording in an earpiece.

Will the orchestra gel? It plays together for the first time just two days before the live concert, so it is a tough challenge for everyone. But all the participants have either a lot of diverse playing experience or are young and malleable. I have no doubt that these musicians will, by April 15th, develop a common sense of “now” and feel a synchronous rhythm, as well as establish an agreeable pitch.

In the meantime, YouTube are doing a great job creating an esprit de corps for this virtual team with a mail list that has been going for a month, a dedicated secure web site for the winners, frequent communications out and the compilation of winner’s autobiographical videos. The orchestra members have had their music for this ambitious concert for a week already. Between members there have been a lot of bilateral and multilateral communications. They have had their individual music parts to practise for a week already. There is even a documentary being made so the orchestra (and you) can get an even more intimate look at some of these people (www.harmonyfilm.com).

And yes, it is an extraordinary opportunity and a huge privilege to be part of this experiment.

I Love Spart and you guys. Your episodes and the songs are the best. Your really good at making movies. Spata remineds me a lot of my cat Kieko (Which means adored) (Hint Spoiled very spoiled cat) and my old cat Smokey who died when he was a year and 8 month old. He died of Feline Leukemia. Smoke was the smartest cat ever, he also decided to chose me as his chew toy. He would drink from our bathroom sink faucet and drank out of the toilet. Kieko is our biggest cat, weighing in at 16 pounds of muscle. We spoiled him to much and he grew up big and not the brightest of the bunch. He demands to have fresh water if the other cats drink from the dish or it is over 5 minutes old. He use to sleep in the sink and now demands that you cuff your hands under the water so he cam drink from your hands. He also picks fights with us and the other cats. I tried training him and so far I got him to learn sit and thats all. But my other cat checkers I got trained like a dog. I got 3 indoor cats and 3 outdoor cats. If you would like to now more about them and make a page for Sparta you can go to Catchannel.com. My cats names are Chess, Checker (Who are twin sisters), clue and kieko. I don’t have a page set up yet for Mira and Leo yet. I will soon though. When you sing up look my name up or my cats name up. You can vote for others, and your self and people can vote for you. Using these votes you can win and be cat of the day or month. You would most likely win both. Well good luck with Sparta!

John Carpenter, April 9, 2009 at 7:34 PM

I just realized the casting for this is all wrong. Sure, Nathan Fillon was perfect, but instead of Day and Harris they could have cast other characters from Firefly – Kaylee and the medical doctor. It would have fit so well! I wonder if either of them could sing, though.

Does anybody else think that the captions are wrong in the song “So They Say”? I swear Penny was not singing “I guess he’s pretty okay”, but “I guess he screwed me okay”.

Melissa Holland, April 10, 2009 at 4:25 PM

You wanted to know what that chattering was that Sparta was doing. I don’t really have an answer but my cat checkers does the same thing when see sees something out the window.

“We’re not ready” has become the mantra of sorts on the show. Thanks for the write up, as with any new start up, the show is a work in progress. It’s all about the grass roots way of doing things and allowing the show to grow organically and find it’s audience along the way. Again, thanks for the review and tuning in, it’s much appreciated.

Thanks Jipsi K. for showing me a great new show to watch….

elaineewing, April 15, 2009 at 11:56 AM

The Kevin Pollock Chat Show is a breath of fresh air in a genre that is usually slick and overproduced. I like seeing KPCS grow and find it’s niche… on air. The interviews are relaxed and off the cuff and I never get the feeling that the guest is there to regurgitate his pre-approved, pre-interview “amusing” antidote and then plug his latest project. Kevin’s interview with Joe Mantegna was the best I’d ever seen with the actor. If you’re looking for high production value, you have many, MANY choices on network TV. But if you are more interested in listening to fascinating people who work in film, television and new media having authentic conversations, KPCS is something well worth checking out.

Tejas74, April 15, 2009 at 12:05 PM

The KPCS is not your Grandma and Grandpas “Bob Hope Special”. Instead they have chosen a medium that in my opinion does include the audience. The live two way line of communication between the audience, host and guest is working. What other show do you know where “Joe Q. Public” can contribute such a big part such as theme music or writing an ending to a show. What other show has the flexibility to extend the interview of a guest without time constraints. There does not need to be this structure in the show that says, talk to this guest for 10min and make a reference to this. I believe that since it is not a cookie cutter format like a lot of other shows, The KPCS is and will draw a bigger audience every week. Which means the format is working. Sure there will be some technical tweaks that they make here and there but what I give Kevin Pollak and his crew kudos (isn’t kudos a snack) for being at the fore front of this medium. Keep it up KPCS and look forward to this Sunday’s show.

martha_s, April 15, 2009 at 12:47 PM

I have tuned in to the chat show live from the beginning. As a fan who has submitted questions to the show both from the live chatroom and from Twitter, which Kevin has then asked his guests, the communication feels very two-way to me. It’s been a thrill to see my questions asked (and yes, sometimes gently mocked). I appreciate Kevin’s commitment to include his audience in the show. Right out of the gate, even as the show finds its legs, it is better than any talk show on TV, with actual conversations instead of sound bites. Kevin’s thoughtful, sensitive, and always quick-witted attention to his guests creates the space and time for very memorable conversations indeed. I highly recommend the show.

carrioneater, April 15, 2009 at 1:35 PM

saw it on stickam, kevin pollak is a has been actor and his act is old. Keeps doing the same crappy impersonations as always. He started to get into the social networking sites Youtube, twitter, stickam and others, but has made a few friends who are have notoriety on there. Jipsi up there has been Banned on youtube for trolling and his Fraudulent claims of being a producer. Sure he can out talk people and convince people with his charm, but be wary of him. He IS Poison. oh, Didn’t I tell you he cheated with his wife on another youtuber half his age? or acts like a perv in text/video cat rooms with underage girls? so Do judge people by who they are and what people out there are trying to manipulate others in to doing. Just a warning. and all I’ve written is true, Please prove otherwise.

MAK, April 15, 2009 at 2:21 PM

In my opinion the chat show is great, have enjoyed every episode so far. With the time constraints removed there is something easy about the conversations … like the guest really wants to be there and share their experiences with us. Right now it still feels like a precious little gem but one day I know that I will be telling my kids “I was there for the first show and it was amazing.”

Susan Boyle, you are an inspiration! Well done! Your voice touches my heart. I too care for my mother and I know how taxing, draining and stressful it can be, because one cares. If your voice is any indication of your success, you should roar to the top! I remember when I was just a mere bairne, I thught that to be a singer would have to be a special person because your voice would have to touch the listener to the point of sending him to that other realm/dimension to make a difference and truly, you have such a voice. I personally had a wish and a dream too but ill health, and life in general has been my obstacle, but you are truly specially chosen. God bless you and don’t let anyone touch you when they criticize you for your neglect of beauty treatments etc. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and you have a light and beauty that shines from within you!

After your redition of I Dream a Dream, there isn’t anyone left that can do it justice.
Make your CD, I am on the way to the record shop to per-order several for Christmas gifts.
By the way, I have never heard of Elaine Paige, however, on your way to the moon, tell her
hello. God Bless you! You know your mother is watching and listening. For the past five years
I have nursed my daughter with cancer. She passed away and I cried and cried when I heard you sing.
Wish I could have played it for her. We listened to Paul Potts every day. She loved it and I know she would have loved you to. My Dream is that she can hear you sing along with me. With HIS blessings and mine.

Honestly I think you’re being very harsh here and I wonder if your criticism has to do with the fact that this site was launched by a “celebrity”.

You mentioned the bare-bones editing and production but how is it any worse than the what is seen in press junket video interviews? Do we want big, flashy production or to listen to people speak openly and relaxed about filmmaking?

“Michel Gondry’s nearly incomprehensible ramblings? Are you aware that the man is French and English is obviously not his first language. Honestly this just points out how picky you are being because if you were genuinely interested in what the man was saying, you would have understood.

The co-founders have been very modest in their launch of this product and have stated time and again that it is a work in progress and from following their twitter, have implemented changes suggested by people who have visited the site. I’m sure once fully established they will be able to diversify and that intent is certainly clear.

As a starting point, what is currently available is very good considering and one can certainly see the potential.

Liz Shannon Miller, April 27, 2009 at 4:30 PM

In regards to Gondry, I do know that he’s French. But there are many things that could have been done to make his interview more clear: subtitles, crisper sound design, stronger direction. And I don’t necessarily need a flashy production, but I do think it’s possible to take a dynamic approach to the Q&A format that still allows the interviewee to be open and candid.

However, your critiques of my critiques are fair, and we’re both in agreement about the site’s potential. I am interested to see it evolve further!

I love Sparta, he’s so cute! I used to have a cat called Callie but she died. She was black and white and tomorrow would be her birthday if she still was alive. I might feel a bit sad tomorrow though. Well I love Sparta and the mean kitty song!

BTW, before writing my review, I watched all episodes up to and including #9. More episodes are apparently coming, and the pacing in #9 is better than the others, so perhaps the series will improve. One can always hope.

Actually, Sandwich of Terror got 58 votes. The point stands though, as it was a far cry from the previous month! So, take heed, Bromos! Seriously though, I love the show. I also hope we eventually get to see who becomes the top bro!

I am so happy to see Sam replaying. I was lucky enough to see the first one and can’t wait to see the characters on the new Prom Queen. I really was fascinated by many of the characters on Sam. I really like Prom Queen as well. Way to go.

Something tells me we’ll be seeing more of these “roommate” shows until we figure out a way to monetize web content more effectively. It’s hard to pass up a free location when your return is so low.

Liz Shannon Miller, May 22, 2009 at 1:35 PM

Definitely a fair point. I do get excited when I see a twist on the subject, though (like, say, the Google-is-your-roommate piece).

I think this new Machinima thing is really interesting which is why I really think people who are interested in film should take a look at this new series. It’s a medium that many up-and-comming film makers should really take an advantage of. It could lead to very intellengent film clubish discussions between those studying the artform of film making.

From what I have seen it’s a very good atempt to reinvision the genre of Machinima for a new age and may become a medium for Television in the future. Especially since the advancement of video game graphics over the past 2 years. Take for example Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune this is a game that has such supirior graphics that it can litterally be translated into a full form movie or TV series.

I say for those who are willing to see somthing increadiblely different in the movie making business take a look at this experiemental mini-series. From what I’ve heard it get better and better every passing episode. But if you’re one of those who want to see somthing of high-quality value than maybe you should pass.

Britney is definently better. Sh`s more beautiful, more sexy and very original. But Beyonce have a very good voice, but not the best, because Christina, Kelly and Leoana have the best voice of the moment. And in the body leage, Beyonce loose for Rihanna and Keri Hilson. Bey is a product of marketing and Jay-Z influence in the industrie music.

I believe it can help people to tap into a universal cosmic wisdom that is embedded into our genetic memory. Check out my LSD/Counterculture stories here: http://dryotamrcnhppkd.blogspot.com/2009/01/1963-venice-beach-ca.html
