One of the pioneers of online comedy, this series takes the reader mail format and adds ninjas, which we all know makes everything better. Like many web series, Ask a Ninja’s appeal owes a lot to its star: In this case, co-creator Douglas Sarine as the titular Ninja, whose energetic performance makes the show’s runtime of between 4 and 7 minutes fly by. Ask a Ninja is notable not only for its quality, though, but for its financial success — Sarine and co-creator Kent Nichols are reported to make $10,000 a month from ad revenue, licensing and merchandising. Clearly, this Ninja’s advice is well worth listening to.
